Festival Colours of Ostrava postponed to July 2021, tickets remain valid
The 19th edition of the international festival Colours of Ostrava, Czech Republic, is postponed to July 14th – 17th, 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemics and the related restrictions concerning large international events. The festival will be held next summer at the traditional location of Dolní Vítkovice, Ostrava, alongside with the International Forum Meltingpot.
“I am fully aware that, the same as me, you couldn’t wait for a great festival summer. For the whole past year my team has been working hard on making the 2020 festival one of a kind, with exquisite line ups and a great deal of upgrades. Now we are facing a situation I’ve never imagined – a summer without our festival, without live music, without the unique colourful ambiance,” explains the festival’s director Zlata Holušová.
The festival team is currently working on postponing the planned line up to the upcoming year, including the headliners and as many other artists as possible. All purchased tickets remain valid for 2021. “I do have a huge favour to ask, though. Please, support us now. I will consider it an act of utmost solidarity if you keep them and thus support the idea of our festival and its exceptional four-day program. We can hardly manage this without you behind our back,” Zlata Holušová informs the festival fans.
“I also fully understand that many of you, like us, have found yourself in a difficult situation and will be forced to ask us for reimbursement. Please provide us with some time to fix all the practicalities – we will do our best to get you all the information you might need,” Holušová announces. All questions and queries regarding the postponement will be dealt with by e-mail at [email protected] The director further adds: “If you are struggling with serious financial issues, do get in touch, we will try to handle your case individually as soon as we can.” “It is no secret that postponing the festival less than three months before the original date, with a large part of agreements agreed and things organised, is an excruciating challenge. Not only for us but also for the artists, our suppliers, colleagues, temps and hundreds of other people make the festival network. Still we remain optimistic – with you and all our partnering institutions behind our back we will make it, it’s just going to happen a year later. Patience will bring us back together, with you, to whom we can’t be more grateful,” Zlata Holušová underlines the role of the festival fanbase.
The festival team is far from taking a break: besides the postponement management, the team is putting together a social media project Colours TV that will offer concerts, live shows as well as footage from the archives. Besides, the Meltingpot Forum will keep releasing intriguing interviews with outstanding personalities.
“Take care of yourselves, your loved ones and your friends, stay fit and optimistic. We will meet at the greatest edition of Colours of Ostrava, in July 2021 in Dolní Vítkovice,” Holušová concludes.
The festival was originally to be held from July 15 to 18 with a long list of international stars on the line-up, among which The Killers (USA), Twenty One Pilots (USA), Martin Garrix (Nizozemsko), The Lumineers (USA), LP (USA), Youssou N´Dour (Senegal) and many others. Non-musical program was also to be included, ranging from the International Forum Meltingpot, theatre, workshops, films and visual arts installations, amounting to over 450 events and shows on as many as 24 indoor and outdoor venues in the area of Dolní Vítkovice.
